Thanks Mordy. I think Lynda has done a fine job of filling an important niche in the market. It’s clear from the Lynda teaching guides and approaches, though, that most of the courses seek to deliver bullet-based content, the sort of lectures that fit a model that’s based on tests and accreditation, even if there are no tests. Lynda’s courses are skills-based, and the approach (as far as I can tell from what I’ve seen) is to downplay the instructor’s emotional connection to the student in favor of focusing on the skills to be delivered.

The point I’m trying to make is that we can go beyond content delivery and head toward transformation. Transforming attitudes, expectations and styles. Developing reserves of emotional intelligence, creating cultures that lead to different outcomes.

That’s not Lynda’s focus, nor does it need to be. But I hope we can start working on this.
